From the 9th- 16th of March 2008, I had the pleasure of being chaperone for the Greenlandic Cultural Contingency to AWG in Yellowknife, Canada.
We were invited to the house of Cheryl Fennel. She had been asked by the city of Yellowknife to be a "friend and support to the Greenlandic contingency of 120 people. I have known Cheryl for about 10 years, as she is a fellow Bahá'í.
Cheryl mother is Dene and she asked the Cheif of the Dene community of Dettah if we could come and visit their community. We had the great honour of visiting the Dettah community, near Yellowknife and talked with the cheif and the Elders! It was fantastic experience for all concerned and gave a greater understanding of the people of the area.
Other than that the dance production and mask dance performance were well received. All in all the AWG was a wonderful experience for all of us involved in it.
